FAQ's
My kid can swim, but they aren't that great. Should we sign up?
A:We accept swimmers of all talents! Here are our suggested guidelines for joining the team:
6 and unders: At least 3 years old, can swim a full length of the pool without stopping. Their technique for freestyle/backstroke doesn't have to be perfect; doggy paddle is okay!
7-8's: Can swim a full length of the pool without stopping
9-10's: Can swim a full length of the pool without stopping, preferably 2
11-ups: Can swim 2 lengths of the pool without stopping
2. What group would my child fit in to?
The age cut-off for the season is June 1. Whatever age your swimmer is on June 1 is the age group they will be in (6 and under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18).
3. How many practices are we required to come to?
Come as much as you can! There is an obvious correlation between the students who come to practices once a day and their improvement in times and technique. We have families who come once a day, twice a day or just three times a week. We suggest that to get your money's worth, you come to practice at least 3 times a week (out of the possible 9 practices).
4. Do we have to swim in the meets?
Of course we would love for your family to be a part of the competition side of the team, but they are not required. If you choose to not swim in the meets, please make sure to let us know when we send out weekly sign-ups.
5. When are meets and practices?
The meets and practices times can be found on the main page.

8. What supplies do we need to invest in?
There is a team swim suit that is suggested (not required) for meets. The link will be sent out for that and a try-on event once you register. The swimmers can wear this suit to practice, but we also suggest you get a practice suit so that the meet suit doesn't get worn out. You can find these types of swim suits at Dicks Sporting Goods or online at SwimShop.com.
Goggles are a must! I recommend investing in a few pairs as they tend to disappear.
We will have team swim caps for sale throughout the season.
8. What is a swim meet?
Swim meets are a chance for your child to compete against their best times from the season. We have 5 dual meets where we compete against one other team either at our pool or theirs. These meets are long, because it's our entire team against their entire team, but so much fun. Each age group only competes against their own age group and gender group. For example, a 7-8 girl will only ever compete against other 7-8 girls. Our dual meets are on Tuesday evenings and one Monday evening. These start at 5:30 PM, but we ask that they arrive around 4:00 pm. The six and under team will finish around 6:30, and the rest of the team finishes around 8:30. I know it's a late night, but it's summer and so much fun to get into the competition!!!
